What were they thinking?
Florida Governor Rick Scott (R) attended a roundtable on Friday, June 26, hosted by former GOP congressional candidate Steve Obsitnik, to entice Connecticut companies to relocate to Florida. Scott and Obsitnik were joined by GOP State Senator Toni Boucher, who represents Ridgefield and surrounding towns. What were Obsitnik and Boucher thinking?
Where do their loyalties lie?
Obsitnik’s roundtable appears to have focused more on badmouthing, rather than boosting, Connecticut’s economy. State Senator Toni Boucher’s participation was especially disturbing, insofar as she is a serving member of the State Senate GOP leadership. Has Toni’s eagerness to advance her standing within the GOP led her to work against the interests of Ridgefield, the rest of her district and the entire state of Connecticut?
Not what we need
Ridgefield expects its state legislators to actively and constructively support the ongoing job retention/creation efforts of First Selectman Rudy Marconi and other town leaders. We definitely don’t need folks like Boucher and Obsitnik entertaining out-of-state GOP Governors and power-brokers intent on harming our state. Keep this incident firmly in mind the next time Toni visits town to deliver the usual list of tired GOP talking points and platitudes.
